Teh & Lee was founded in 2000 with a clear sense of purpose – to build a practice where clients would always be advised by lawyers who genuinely knew their matters, not passed down the chain. More than two decades later, that founding principle remains the firm’s most steadfast commitment.
Where we came from
The firm was established in Kuala Lumpur at a time when the Malaysian capital markets were coming into their own. From the outset, we chose to focus on the areas we knew best – corporate and commercial work, capital markets transactions, and real estate – as well as the kind of complex, multi-party mandates that demand both legal precision and sound commercial judgement.
We grew deliberately. Not by expanding headcount for its own sake, but by bringing in lawyers who shared the same standards and the same belief that the quality of advice matters more than the volume of files on the desk.
With meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence, we believe the best legal outcomes are built on something deeper – relationships, context, and trust that accumulate over time.
Today, the firm is led by four partners and supported by a structured team of lawyers – each contributing to a practice that has quietly built one of Kuala Lumpur’s more respected track records in capital markets, transactional work, and real estate.
Our lawyers bring academic backgrounds from Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Australia, and China. Several hold postgraduate qualifications in law and business administration. That breadth of training means we approach each engagement with both legal rigour and a genuine understanding of the commercial realities our clients navigate.
Where we are today
Over two decades, we have advised founders, private equity and venture capital funds, publicly listed companies, and corporate groups across property and construction, retail, plantations, technology, and marine-related sectors.
We have acted as Malaysian counsel on cross-border listings involving the United States, United Kingdom, Singapore, Australia, and Taiwan. We have advised on some of the more complex M&A and financing transactions in the market. And we continue to be engaged, year after year, by clients who come back.
That, more than anything, is the measure we hold ourselves to.

We are based in Mid Valley City, Kuala Lumpur, at the heart of one of Southeast Asia’s most active commercial centres. From here, we advise on domestic matters and coordinate on cross-border transactions with counterpart counsel across the region and internationally.
